Taking a Break

Daily Details will be taking a bit of a hiatus - we've had a terrible loss in the family and I just don't think I'll be up to it for a while. Take care and stay safe.

127 - Picturesque Panoramas

So waking up in the wee hours of the morning and almost freezing your fingertips off might not sound that awesome to everyone, but when you're rewarded with views like this well... I think it's totally worth it. It's also probably worth clicking on that panorama to see it full size! I hope you're all having a great start to the week!

126 - Brrrr!

It was a brisk 2 degrees Celsius this morning when Pappa and I headed out to Kalamunda for a hike. It's been a few weeks between hikes so it was nice to get back out into nature. I've had a hell of a week at work, so today was exactly what I needed - fresh air in the morning and the couch and the latest season of Game of Thrones in the afternoon. It was all dewdrops and beautiful lighting so I think you'll be getting nature shots for a few days!

125 - The Closest We Get...

So look. We don't really get what you'd call an extreme winter here in Perth. We get the rain and the wind and storms and whatnot it's true, but in terms of the cold it's really pretty mild. So if we want to get our ice skating on it's gotta be an artificial rink.  After being super popular last year, the Perth Cultural Center has again been transformed into 'Winterland' with an ice skating rink, snow dome and 'The Lodge' bar and cafe. It's a pretty cool little area - although if I'm honest I'd rather hang out with a hot chocolate in the Lodge than put on some skates!

124 - Love is Love

Generally, I don't get too involved in politics. In fact before our current leaders came in, I'd have to say I didn't really pay attention at all. Which is bad I know. Worse is that the main reason I'm aware now is that I dislike oh so much of what they do. There are a plethora of reasons why I don't like Tony Abbott. One of these is his stance on marriage equality. I simply don't understand why I should be allowed to marry the person I love (if I ever find him!!), but people in my family, or my friends can not. Today in Perth around 5,000 people (and numerous pets) gathered, in the rain, to rally for the opportunity for a free vote on the issue of marriage equality. These rallies have been held all around Australia and we can only hope that eventually the message will get through. Love is love.
